Wii U Price and Launch Date Revealed?

Whenever there’s a new console release, the rumor mill seems to become an uncontrollable machine. With the Wii U set to launch sometime this holiday season, a recent product listing from Video Product Distribution – which maintains the distribution for many online retailers, including Amazon – suggests the console will hit store shelves on November 11 with a baseline price point of $250.

The listing was uncovered by registered Youtube user H0undd0gg and reveals three different SKUs for the Wii U. The three product codes indicate the aforementioned $250 console as well as $300 and $350 bundles. No other information was available, and of course Nintendo has neither confirmed nor denied this listing. If the multiple SKUs are in fact evidence of three different launch bundles, this will be a departure from the single-SKU releases of their last two consoles.

Earlier last week, another rumor was reported by Kotaku that scheduled the Wii U’s launch for November 18. This was based on a presentation by accessory-manufacturer PDP, made at a Gamestop managers conference in Texas. Whether the console comes out the 11th, 18th, or a later (or earlier date), Nintendo has confirmed that it will be available for the holiday season. Perhaps the official announcement will be made during a special presentation of the console in New York City on September 13.
