Sony has just announced that the Killzone series is getting it’s own trilogy box set.
This set will come with Killzone HD, a polished version of the original PS2 game, as well as it’s numbered sequels, Killzone 2 and 3. No Killzone: Liberation for those PSP lovers, though.
As well as these three games you will also receive every DLC map-pack, that’s three for each game, to enjoy.
So for Killzone 2 you’ll get:
- Steel & Titanium Map Pack
- Flash & Thunder Map Pack
- Napalm & Cordite Map Pack
And for Killzone 3 you’ll get:
- Steel Rain Map Pack
- Retro Map Pack
- From The Ashes Map Pack
The Killzone Trilogy will land on October 23rd and will retail for $39.99.
Now that I’ve dutifully informed you of the above, can we all stop for a minute and think about this? Why does a game series with two-thirds of its titles on current-generation consoles, need a box-set release?
It’s understandable if say, an awesome last-gen game series gets a combined HD release or if a long-running and leviathan series gets collected in one easy place, but why Killzone? The only way this makes sense is if they’re expecting to gain new players this way, because people that already like and own Killzone aren’t going to buy the same games again.
