With so many stories regarding next-gen consoles going around, today’s news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise (but boy do we love speculating about release dates). Nonetheless, it seems that online retailer Zavvi may have “leaked” some information regarding the Nintendo Wii U and it’s European release date. Unfortunately, the release date image has been modified since the occurrence; however, those looking for it can find it at Techtroid.
The image was submitted by a Kevin W. who was searching the UK based retailer for a copy of Super Mario Brothers 4, nonetheless, when Kevin found his copy of Super Mario Brothers 4, it had a release date set for Friday, November 16th 2012 (when the Wii U’s release date has yet to been announced). While this isn’t the first time the Wii U has potentially had a leak, it’s dates actually match up with what has currently been floating around and may potentially release 2 days before the US launch (again, not another big surprise because the Wii’s 3DS had also launched in the UK prior to the US).
The US date rumors claim that the Wii U may release on November 18th of 2012, however, Nintendo has only claimed the console will release sometime in Autumn of 2012. Nintendo has currently not commented on this potential leak, however, we’re definitely keeping an eye out for any news surrounding the release of this console.
With that being said, we’ll just have to wait and see if this leak was an issue on Zavvi’s end or if it indeed was some information that player’s were not supposed to be aware of. As we said before, the image can be found at Techtroid, however, Zavvi has completely removed the initial hiccup. So, what do you think? Leave us a comment in the box below and tell us how you feel about the potential release date of the Wii U being leaked, we’d love to hear it!
