Is it too much to ask for to get a good Transformers game? While there have been plenty of bad games based on the popular 1980′s toys, there’s been a few decent ones as well (yes, I even liked Beast Wars). But there hasn’t been a true hardcore, fan-pleasing adventure that truly captures the spirit of the beloved franchise. Is it really so hard? Big robots that turn into cool vehicles fighting one another on a war-torn world, filled with cheesy metal mayhem…I would think not.
Hopefully, the trend of so-so Transformers game will finally come to an end with this month’s release of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
We first got a sneak peek of the game at the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards, with a cool trailer featuring the famed cast, which finally includes the beloved Grimlock, all set against a moody but still inspiring song by Everlove.
With the official launch trailer now out, hopefully this will whet your appetites for the August 31 release of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. From what I’m seeing the game looks very promising. Fingers crossed.
