PSP Price Drop + New PS3, PSP Titles Added to Sony's Budget-Minded 'Greatest Hits'

Aw, just look at Kratos’ lil’ happy face there. He’s all, ‘Yay, deals!’

In the market for a new PSP? It’s your lucky day. Sony has announced a new price drop for its PSP-3000, bringing the portable system down to $129.99 (MSRP), starting February 27th, 2011. The PSP Entertainment Packs will also see a price break, at $159.99 (MSRP).

In other budget friendly news, Sony has also added a new crop of games to its low priced Greatest Hits lines for both the PlayStation 3 and the PSP. These lines are a great way to pad out your game library on the cheap, and among the new additions are some of the best games of 2009 and 2010, including God of War III, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain.

Priced at $29.99 each, the new PlayStation 3 Greatest Hits titles are:

  • God of War III
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Game of the Year Edition
  • Heavy Rain
  • UFC Undisputed 2010
  • ModNation Racers

And along with the newly cheaper PSP system, the PSP’s Greatest Hits catalog has some new additions, too. These will set you back just $19.99 a pop, and they are:

  • Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Resistance: Retribution
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  • Toy story 3: The Video Game

Sony has also added some new titles to its even more budget conscious “Favorites” collection for the PSP, priced at $9.99 each:

  • Daxter
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
  • Monster Hunter Freedom Unite
  • SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fire Team Bravo
  • Tomb Raider Anniversary
  • Killzone: Liberation

If you’ve been holding off on any of those, then now’s a great time to add them to your shelf. God of War III is particularly well worth the asking price, as is Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain, and LittleBigPlanet for the PSP.

I’m an avid gamer that spends a lot of time saying things (about stuff) on the Internet. A PlayStation girl at heart, I also keep an XBox 360 around, just in case, as well as various handhelds and older consoles, because no matter how cool next gen gaming gets, the classics are called “classics” for a reason, friends and neighbors.
