We’ve been eagerly awaiting any news to do with Blizzard’s Diablo III release date and it seems today that our wishes have come true. On Blizzard’s official site, they have announced the official release date for the long awaited for Diablo III. Diablo III is set for launch on May 15th and we are absolutely thrilled to hear this news (and cannot wait to get our hands on it!).
The site is currently taking pre-orders so players can jump online the moment Diablo III releases, however, they are also offering a free copy of Diablo III for World of Warcraft players who purchase an annual pass. If you are a WoW player and are interested in getting a free copy of Diablo III, you have until May 1st to purchase an annual pass. Along with the free copy of Diablo III, WoW players will also receive a new mount and exclusive access to the new WoW: Mists of Pandaria beta test. Just so players are aware of this, the pre-orders are currently for digital copies of Diablo III, so if you’re hoping for a hard copy, you’ll need to grab it in stores (it’s really up to your preference).
Diablo III will be available for Windows XP, Vista, 7, and Mac computers and will cost your around $59.99 for the retail and digital version of Diablo III. There is a Collector’s Edition of Diablo III that costs $99.99 but has a bunch of additional goodies. The goodies include: A behind the scenes Blu-ray two disc set, the Diablo III soundtrack CD, A huge concept art book of Diablo III, and a 4 GB USB Soulstone containing full versions of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction with a Diablo Skull base. With all of the content that the collector’s edition comes with, it seems like the $99.99 price tag is more than fair (and we’ll more than likely be getting it!).
Nonetheless, today is a good day for fans of the Diablo franchise. Players have been waiting for the release of Diablo III for years now, and it seems our patience has finally paid off.
